I, on behalf of the Assam Film Society, the 1st Assam International Rural Film Festival Reception Committee, and Federation of Film Society of India (FFSI) hail you to the 1st Assam International Rural Film Festival (AIRFF). The only active film society relentlessly striving to build up a wholesome film culture and reach out to the common cine goers with quality films in Upper Assam, we the Assam film Society are a registered under Society Registration Act, 1860, and boast of having more than fifty campus film societies under our belt. Since its inception it has been striving hard to promote quality cinema among common masses, specially students, children and rural masses across the entire Upper Assam. We feel proud to have hosted and organized more than six International Film Festival, several Film Appreciation Courses (FAC) and campus film festivals, seminar, screening of award winning regional and continental film at various educational institutes in and around Jorhat. We, at Assam Film Society, have not an iota of doubt that 1st Assam International Rural Film Festival, perhaps the first of this kind in our country, which is being held in collaboration with FFSI and Meleng Phesual Film Society is need of the hour and is all set to play a pivotal role in devising and finding out newer strategy to rejuvenate the otherwise moribund film culture in the region and also strengthening film as a potent tool of mass education and entertainment at ground levels. I take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all – our Brand Ambassador Zubeen Garg, our MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, the esteemed members and office bearers of Assam Film Society and AIRFF Reception Committee, the members of the Meleng Phesual Film Society, our media partners and friends, our distinguished friends and well wishers from our film fraternity and the common cinegoers of the locality – for their good will and the cooperation.
